ABOUT US. The Center for Depth Psychology, Inc. emerged out of a discussion in a graduate school class in Jungian Analysis. Its founding director is a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Steven Harris, who was the professor of this class where the original idea occurred. Dr. Krishna Tewari, Professor of Molecular Biology & Biochemistry at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California Irvine, graciously funded its original budget. Dr. Eve Maram, MFT, supplied everything from needed mailing support to editorial assistance. Due to the efforts of these founders, the Center began. In the first year, 2003, the CFDP offered two year-long Continuing Education Units (CEU) classes for Licensed Psychologists and Marriage & Family Therapists.

These courses were created to help the participants enjoy a different way of getting their continuing education units (CEU's) from a depth psychology perspective. Attendees read, learn and participate in an ongoing dialogue about their psychotherapeutic work together with other professionals in the field. Participants meet in small monthly study groups and incorporate what they are reading into their ongoing clinical work. These courses are designed for psychotherapists who work with the psychology of the unconscious through depth work in their practices. Further, they were created for therapists to have meaningful experiences of both individual and professional growth. As these classes have been well attended, stimulating and full of energetic discussions, by the end of 2006, the CFDP completed its fourth year of courses of introductory level courses.

As the CFDP continues to grow, the work has grown to involve participants who have invested considerable work with the depth psychology perspective. Groups are now offered for advanced members who have invested years in their own analyses, broadly read in Analytical Psychology and Psychodynamic perspectives, and work with patients from a depth perspective. These consultation groups are beginning in January, 2007. This chapter in the development of the Center for Depth Psychology is one that is met with great enthusiasm about the stimulating challenges that come with this level of involvement with the work with the Psyche.
