The Center for Depth Psychology exists to stimulate growth for patients and psychotherapists alike interested in the depth psychological perspective. To this end, the CFDP provides resources for psychotherapy, continuing education, supervision, consultation, psychotherapy resources and various other services to foster our work with the life and depth of the Psyche.

What is Depth Psychology?

Depth psychology put simply is the psychology of the unconscious. Rather than a source of ills, the unconscious is seen as having healing value. Our view of depth psychology is that human beings continue to grow through the examination of the unconscious. Wholeness and individuation are sought in the path of the journey through the unconscious.

Our mission is to promote and seek wholeness and individuation by exploring the unconscious from multiple perspectives. Rather than regarding this variety as confusing, conflicting, or even adversarial, we promote the engagement of various schools of thought and theoretical perspectives. These areas of study include Psychoanalysis, Jungian Analytical Psychology, Existential Psychology, and various other non-institutionalized spiritual practices/psychologies. From this integrated standpoint, the CFDP seeks to promote a cross-fertilization of ideas to enhance, compliment, and articulate the complexity of human life and growth. The patient sitting with the therapist remains the same person, yet multiple perspectives greatly enrich the therapeutic dialogue about the process going on in the working relationship as it unfolds.

NEW! We are now in our third phase of growth, CFDP is planning groups that will include mental health professionals, licensed and un-licensed alike, who want to obtain CEU's while engaging in dialogue about their ongoing clinical work with patients. CFDP envisions that this work is further informed by the therapist's own ongoing psychotherapy/analysis, individual supervision/consultation, and explorative readings, led by accomplished clinicians in our field . This dialogue requires tolerating multiple perspectives and a willingness to question fixed ideologies. We plan to offer various levels of involvement including introductory seminars, ongoing reading/consultation groups, and for those wishing to further consolidate their learning, a Certificate in Depth Psychotherapy. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
